You can never go wrong with BORACAY
Early this year, Airphil had a seat sale. The 6 of us (officemates by day, friends by heart) were all over the Metro, doing client fieldwork. After a few calls here and a dozen messages there, despite miscommunications and false alarms, we successfully booked a flight to Boracay, even after seats on sale ran out. Our last batch hurrah, as we opted to call it.
Then, we were all set.

From Kalibo, we had to take a 2-hour land trip to reach Caticlan port. A ticket booth, motor boat and in minutes, we were finally in our destination: Boracay Island!
Now, initially, the plan was to book a random hotel. Not somewhere grand. Beach front wasn’t in the original blue print of this vacation. Screw expensive hotels, we can walk to the beach, no sweat! Yeah, right! We ended up making reservations in White House- a station 1 resort with a wide beach front and swimming pool. It wasn’t Discovery Shores level but it was close to that. Literally! We were almost in the farthest end of the Island. The beach front was beyond beautiful, the crowd very minimal and the long walks back to the hotel at night were memorable.

Our peaceful beach front. No unwanted visitors to disturb us.

Our rooms were very spacious. The beds were beyond comfortable. We even had verandas. But the best part had to be the connecting door! It was open all the time it felt like we were staying in one big room! One room, where the picture above was taken, just seemed a little bit better than the other. Yellow lighting was a little prettier, closet was bigger, TV was flatscreen- you know, those little details. So before we settled into room assignments, we had to do the classic rock-paper-scissors game! We’re such a bunch of kids!
It was close to sunset when we arrived in our hotel. We wasted no time, changed into our swimsuits and allowed the most romantic sunset to take our breaths away.

Who wouldn’t fall in love with (not those girls) that sunset???
On our first night, most of us opted to stay in the hotel after dinner. Lola mode! The four of us traded a promising Friday night for rounds of kwentuhan and quiet bonding, while the other 2 went out and scouted for a nice place for our Saturday night out.
Day 2. Breakfast by the beach.

Anyone who says breakfast in bed is the most romantic sure hasn’t had this kind of a morning starter. Waves crashing, white sand, a clear view of the beach, no people roaming around to bother your affair with this unbelievably beautiful place. PERFECT!
Now, breakfast, I believe, was the ONLY steady part of our second day. Everything that happened afterwards was beyond crazy! Day and night were filled with juicy details worth pouring out in a separate entry. Here’s a sneak peek:
United Nations!

One hell of a crazy crowd, I tell you! Watch out for the juicy stories!
Day 3.
The morning (until almost noon) of our 3rd day, we spent in the comforts of our room. Waking up pretty late, we opted for breakfast in bed this time. After finally shaking off prior night’s exhaustion, we went out for a quick trip to Jonah’s and munched on potatoes (fries and wedges) for lunch.

Feasting on fries and some forbidden questions!
We had to wait for more than an hour for our turn to ride the Fly Fish, so we spent those minutes happily building our sand castles. Castles???

Fly Fish Time!

So we had that picture, which obviously did not give justice to the madness of this ride! Add to that the fact that it was raining hard, like dark clouds and cold breeze level! Ditch the boring banana boat, ride the fly fish! It was intense!
On our way back to the hotel, we saw some skim boards for rent. Out of curiosity, we went ahead and tried our luck on this mini surf boards.

Skim boards plus rain equals FUN! We felt like badass beach babes throwing the skim board, running after it and “trying” to land over it FIERCELY! Hassle sa muscle in a very exciting way!

Posing like PROs. Haha!
Later that night, we had dinner at the Talipapa. It is Boracay’s version of Baywalk where we had to buy the ingredients and had them cooked in a nearby resto.
Good Lord, our last super in Boracay sure felt like a last supper!

Sea food galore!

The *burp* DAMAGE!

Smiling from our happy tummies!
Rather than riding a tricycle, we opted to take the looooong walk back with random chichi stopovers in between. :))

Day 4. Last day.
One last breakfast by the beach before we leave this piece of heaven.

Goodbye, White House!

Goodbye, Boracay!

I’ve been to a couple of beaches our country boasts of, especially in the last 2 years. Nothing compares to the serenity of Boracay’s mornings and its youthfulness come night time. It offers the best of two different worlds. If you want to do everything in the beach, you go to Boracay. If you want to do nothing in the beach, still, you go to Boracay.

God surely sprinkled some magic powder right into this part of the world.

This is paradise.
